Abstract:

One of the most important issues facing America is to deploy missile defense shield against ballistic missile attacks. In addition to missile defense shield in Turkey, United States took measures to strengthen Persian Gulf States’ air defense capability. Providing Patriot air defense systems to four Arab states in Persian Gulf and sending X-band radars to these countries are among these measures. The aim of this paper is to identify and recognize the consequences of the missile defense shield for Iran’s peripheral environment and its impact on Iran’s national security and interests and finally, ways of dealing with it in Iran’s security environment and to minimize possible damages. In this regard, the position of missile defense in America's national security strategy is examined and then its history has been studied. Then, the trends and objectives of the missile defense shield in Eastern Europe, Turkey and the Persian Gulf have been studied, and finally, descriptions about the impacts of missile defense on Iran’s national security presented.

Abstract:

Territorialization is one of the key concepts of political geography. In recent years, the United Arab Emirates has taken measures to expand its territory in Persian Gulf. Construction of artificial islands, often on Dubai coasts was the first step. The other action was defining the points of straight baselines on some part of Abu Dhabi coasts in 2009.Through descriptive - analytical methods and by using legal documents submitted to the United Nations, this paper tries to examine UAE’s territorialization in Persian Gulf and draw the map by ARCGIS software. The results of the cartographic analysis of these territorializations indicate that a significant level of waters behind the UAE’s baseline was considered as domestic water and its territorial sea and other territories have been advanced either. These kinds of measures led to environmental, legal, territorial and security impacts which have been discussed in this paper.

Abstract:

At Chicago summit which was held in in early June 2012, Barack Obama tried to lay the groundwork for North Atlantic Treaty’s future missions. Doing such missions could be possible in a situation that NATO's new strategic concept document had been approved by its member in 2011. The main characteristic of the Chicago Summit was the establishment of the concept for "smart defense" in strategic behavior.Smart defense refers to the concept of diversifying NATO members’ strategic power tools for dealing with regional threats. The main axes of Chicago summit was the continuation of NATO's new strategic concept document. The main axes of Chicago summit (June 2012) can be considered based on issues such as "smart defense", "alliance and cooperation among allies," "Reviewing transatlantic balance" and "shared responsibility.

Abstract:

Deterrence has a long history in international relations. But after the Second World War and by producing weapons of mass destruction (WMD), this theory suggested itself as one of the most important theories in international relations. Classical theory of deterrence is based on the pattern of dominant order and is defined by great powers to maintain power cycle. Meanwhile survival and security of other actors like small powers and also regional powers is depended on that. Due to power constraints, range of strategic actions of these countries remains local and regional; therefore, regional deterrence is their first priority, while classical theory of deterrence doesn’t pay attention to this fact. Accordingly, eliminating the inefficiencies of traditional deterrence theory is the first aim of this Paper. This article is faced with the question that which kinds of models can be considered for such situations and how can we design these models. To answer this question, the paper tries to redefine and design regional deterrence models by using power cycle and network.

Abstract:

Most military organizations follow advanced and modern procedures for repairing and maintenance. However, after being used for a while, goods and equipment cause great costs and it seems that it is not economical to use them anymore. On the other hand, factors like weaknesses in developing standards, product variety, lack of quality control and most importantly, the prevailing culture of consumerism in society and military organizations, has influenced logistical supports for armed forces and caused some goods being unused and released. Hence, the need for planning strategic management of reverse logistics is inevitable. In this paper, it has been tried to gather needed information through interviewing selected experts and filling out Questionnaires, and in order to develop a reverse logistics strategies, analytical approach is used. Finally, the most important effective strategies for reverse logistics in armed forces are introduced.
