Abstract: 

Nowadays, faculty members' developmental programs have been considered as modern strategies in order to promote and revenue teachers' knowledge. This study aimed to comparative educational needs of faculty members in Arak University Colleges of Medical Sciences in 2012. In this cross-sectional study, educational needs of 158 faculty members were assessed in six ranges confirmed by followed ministry. These ranges contained: teaching skills, research, individual development, management executive, remedial services and outside-university activities. Data were collected by 61-section checklist in Liker. The validity and reliability of this checklist was confirmed. Data was analyzed through Epi6 and ANOVA test. In this study, the individual development priorities, research priorities, education al priorities, executive management priorities, preferences and priorities of health care services were evaluated as most of the educational needs. There was no significant difference between assessed ranges with sex and kind of faculty (P>0.05) but there was significant difference between type of employment, scientific degree, and record of service with assessed ranges (P<0.05). This study emphasizes on the necessity of needs and also adapted programs based on faculty members' actual needs and mentioned as the main pivot to promote both medical educational quality and health services quality.

Abstract: 

In this study, the efficacy of digital radiography, PACS, and educational software in improving the quality of education’s diagnostic principles has been evaluated. In an interventional study, the population was a total number of undergraduate dental students and dent maxillofacial residents who continued their study at radiology department of Ahvaz Jundishapur dental school (N=39).The data gathering tools were two researcher-made questionnaires that compared conventional system and digital system (with PACS).Also a software for anatomic landmarks tracing in panoramic views were prepared and its educational efficacy on improving student learning was evaluated as well. There were significant differences between conventional system and digital system on ”Reduction of retake rate”, “Diagnostic quality”, “Changes in density and contrast”, … (P value<0.05) but the difference was not statistically significant (P value>0.05) on “The patient's arrival time graph” and “report writing time”. Moreover, evaluation of educational software for students tested and the results showed significant difference. Digital radiography, picture archival, and communication system were effective in improving quality of teaching and even patient’s management and also the use of educational software has a significant influence on increasing student knowledge.

Abstract: 

Lesson plan is one of most important factors in the education process which can improve the students' views on quality of education and may led faculty members' and students' activities. The present study aimed to determine the quality of lesson plans developed by nursing and midwifery faculty members of selected Iran’s nursing schools. In this cross-sectional study, 100 lesson plans developed by faculty members of 24 nursing and midwifery faculty members were analyzed. The data was collected through checklist made by a researcher. Data was analyzed through descriptive analysis using SPSS software, version 11.5. In total, 4% of the lesson plans were in poor condition, 83% in moderate, and 13% in good condition. Educational content, objectives, and references were included in the most of the lesson plans respectively. Whereas, class management policies, the students required preparation for each session, and educational aids needed for each session and the manner of using them were among the most shortcomings in the lesson plans. Because of the importance of the lesson plan, holding special workshops may provide information for developing better course plans.

Abstract: 

Students are involved in many problems during education period, for this reason identifying the types of students' problems and providing appropriate solutions to decrease these problems can be effective on educational improvements. This study carried out to determine the problems of students attending in consulting centers in Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences. This cross-sectional study evaluated the problems of 640 students referred to consulting offices. Database was extracted from the records of consulting offices and then was analyzed by SPSS-18, chi-square, and t tests. 640 (19.8%) of overall 3200 students referred at least one time to the University Consulting offices for their problems. 172 students (27%) were male and 468 students (73%) were female with mean age 22±3.4 (18 to 38 yrs.). The main problems declared by students were: 163 (25.6%) education problems, 140 (22%) mental problems, 137 (21.5%) personal problems, 130 (20.4%) marital problems, and 67 (10.5%) family problems. The results showed that the problems were different to students. Therefore, consulting offices would be able to provide various services to help the students solve problems. Most of the problems mentioned by students were educational problems and psychological problems respectively.

Abstract: 

Human Resources and productivity Expand through performance evaluation. In order to survive in today’s competitive environment, universities should assess their performance, knowledge management, and promote them. With this attitude, the present study was done with overall objective of the feasibility of implementing performance management in terms of Golestan University of Medical Sciences from faculties’ point of view. This was a kind of descriptive survey. The population was comprised of faculty members (136 people), Sampling was simple random and the data gathering tool was questionnaire prepared in Shiraz; its reliability was approved with 76% Cronbach's alpha. These questionnaires were distributed and were collected then were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results showed that in terms of faculty, the implementation of performance management and its dimensions included; Faculty performance evaluation, groups' performance evaluation, support the faculty performance, support groups' performance, comparison and ranking of faculty members, comparison and ranking of groups, and group management were assessed at the acceptable level (P value= 0.0001). Interaction of educational Departments, academic ranking and gender had no significant effect apart from support and improvement the group performance based on the educational departments (P value=0.04). Also had no significant impact on evaluating groups’ performance in terms of academic ranking (P value=0.007). As a result, the faculty members of university believed that performance management is applicable on current situation in the university.

Abstract: 

The purpose of this study was to predict academic achievement based on Grit as a personality trait, through mediating role of goal orientation. Participants of current study included 356 MA students (177 girls and 179 boys) of University of Shiraz and were chosen by stratified random sampling method. They filled 12-item scale of Grit and 24-item scale of goal orientation (AGQ). Data analysis was done by using Pearson correlation and hierarchical multiple regression based on Baron and Kenny (1986) procedure. To evaluate the fitness of proposed model LISREL -8.80 was utilized. Results indicated a significant positive relationship between Grit with achievement and approach goal orientation (both performance and mastery), also there was no significant relationship between Grit and avoidance goal orientations (both performance and mastery). Meditative role of the approach goal orientation (both performance and mastery) was confirmed to predict academic achievement.

Abstract: 

In order to improve the academic achievement of children and parenting style based on Iranian culture, a quasi-experimental study of nonequivalent groups was performed, the sample consisted of thirty couples with an average age of 40 years, how has school age children participated voluntarily and were placed in either an experimental or a control group. The experimental group received education program in 10 sessions (each two hours). All participants answered the Revised Children’s Reports of Parental Behavior Inventory (CRPBI) in pre and post test. Finally, questionnaires data, Demographic information and the averages of one semester past have been used for analysis and Hypothesises were tested by ANCOVA analysis. Also, the results indicated that the experimental group had significantly higher scores in the posttest than in the pretest phase. As a result, both experimental and qualitative findings suggest that parenting education based on Iranian culture can be used to improve children's academic achievement and parenting styles.

Abstract: 

Successful University is steadily growing and using the talent and ability to meet the needs and expectations of the students and to increase their satisfaction of educational quality. This is a descriptive study that designed for measuring students' views about the quality of the Health Management Department-Health School in Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences. The study population consisted of all students in Health Services Administration-Health School is Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences. Data were collected via a questionnaire with 35 questions that measured the educational quality of department. Data analyzing were done by applying descriptive statistics methods and SPSS software version 18. Results showed that students' satisfaction of Health Services Administration department manager was relatively desirable. Students' awareness of department purposes was undesirable. Based on results, it is important to provide the conditions for student awareness from aims of their department.

Abstract: 

در دنیای رقابتی امروز، کیفیت عامل تعیین کننده در رقابت جهانی می باشد و از آنجایی که کیفیت و برتری رقابتی در هر جامعه ای ناشی از اندیشه و عمل مدیران، برنامه ریزان، سیاست گذاران، مهندسان و سایر اقشار و افراد تحصیل کرده آن جامعه می باشد لذا می توان ادعا نمود که کیفیت در آموزش این افراد می تواند زیربنایی ترین و مهمترین عامل و رکن این پیشرفت و برتری رقابتی تلقی گردد. بنابراین ضروری می باشد دانشگاه ها و مراکز آموزشی در تربیت این افراد بالاترین سطح استانداردها و کیفیت را به کار گیرند (انصاری، 2012). در این بین اعضای هیات علمی هر دانشگاهی نقش اصلی و محوری را در فراهم نمودن این استانداردها و سطح کیفیت را برعهده دارند (بور و همکاران، 2008) و (بوچل و ادوارد 2005). در ایران به دلیل نسبت پایین تعداد استاد به دانشجو «با جمله» در کشورمان دلایلی از جمله تعداد کم اساتید نسبت به تعداد دانشجویان، حجم بالای وظایف اعضای هیات علمی، کمبود امکانات و مشغله های روز افزون زندگانی اعضای هیات علمی، عملکرد و نقش اعضای هیات علمی در این زمینه را تحت تاثیر قرار داده است. لذا نیازمند ارائه راهکارها، برنامه ریزی ها و انجام مداخلات اثربخش در راستای برطرف نمودن این مشکلات می باشیم.
