Background and Objective: Diabetes is a chronic disease that requires acceptance and care. Therefore, it is strongly recommended to increase the knowledge and motivation of patients to take care of themselves. The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the structural model of self-care based on self-care with the mediation of social support in patients with diabetes. Materials and Methods: The present research was methodical in terms of structural equation modeling. We used available sampling for selecting 382 patients with diabetes type 2 referred to private diabetes clinics in Tehran in spring and summer of 2021. Research tools included self care questionnaire, Self-transcendence questionnaire (ASTI) and social support questionnaire (SSQ). The data were analyzed by SPSS21 and AMOSE 3 softwares. Results: The proposed conceptual model approves all model fit indices (such as SRMR GFI, CFI, RMSEA) in an acceptable range to be good. The model had a favorable factor structure and fit. Self transcendence was directly and strongly related to social support and self care. The mediating role of social support was acknowledged. Conclusion: Improving the self transcendence component is associated with improving social support and promoting self care and can be used as a psychological solution along with medical treatments.

Abstract:

Background and Objective: Acute Coronavirus Syndrome Virus (SARS-CoV-2) virus first appeared in China and spread rapidly around the world. Due to its wide spread around the world, efforts are needed to provide an effective and safe vaccine against this virus. The virus genome contains a single-stranded RNA molecule that encodes four different structural proteins, among which the virus spike (S) and nucleocapsid (N) proteins play an important role in stimulating the immune system to fight the virus. Multi-epitope peptide vaccines, which include immunogenic epitopes of T and B cells, have received much attention in recent years due to their high specificity. These vaccines were designed using immunoinformatics tools. Materials and Methods: In this study, the S and N proteins of SARSCoV-2 were analyzed with the help of bioinformatics servers to identify CD4 and B T cell epitopes. Cholera toxin B subunit and PADRE epitope were used as adjuvants. The components were linked together by peptide linkers and the structural features of the vaccine were predicted, including antigenicity, non-allergenicity, physicochemical properties, secondary and tertiary structures using bioinformatics servers. Results: According to the results of bioinformatics analysis, the structure has high antigenicity and is not allergenic. Conclusion: Therefore, the designed structure as a suitable vaccine candidate against SARS-CoV-2 can be examined, although experimental studies are necessary.

Background and Objective: Obesity is known as a hazardous factor for many diseases including cardiovascular ones. Since the effect of exercise training on microRNAs (miRNA) related to obesity, especially mir-27a, has rarely been investigated,Therefore, the current research was conducted with the aim of investigating the effect of eight highintensity interval training (HIIT) on mir-27a levels and C-reactive protein (CRP) concentration in obese men. Materials and Methods: A total of 24 middle-aged obese men (BMI>30 and 44. 07±, 4 years) volunteered were randomly divided into training (n=12) and control (n=12) groups. The training group performed eight weeks of HIIT in a circuit training (High Knee Jog, Jumping jack, burpee, kettlebell snatch, and goblet squat) at an intensity of 80-90% of the Karvonen heart rate (first four weeks: three sessions per week, second four weeks: four sessions per week). Mir-27a and CRP indices were measured in blood samples taken from subjects 48 hours before and after the last training session. Then, the data were analyzed by using independent and paired t-tests. Results: Eight weeks of HIIT training significantly reduced mir-27a and CRP levels as compared to the control group (P <0. 05). Conclusion: Doing exercise, especially HIIT training one, can apparently reduce mir-27 and CRP and possibly prevent the metabolic diseases by counteracting inflammation caused by obesity.

Abstract:

Background and Objective: Serotonin and dopamine are monoamine neurotransmitters that are effective in mood and happiness, which are reduced in old age. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of 12 weeks of total body resistance training on serum levels of dopamine, serotonin and happiness in overweight elderly men. Materials and Methods: In this quasi-experimental study, 30 elderly men with an age range of 62. 06±, 1. 53 years were selected as the sample and randomly divided into two groups of training and control, each group consisting of 15 people. The experimental group trained in a TRX training program for 12 weeks and 3 sessions per week for 60 minutes. Exercise intensity was controlled by Borg Rating of Perceived Exertion (RPE). Serum levels of dopamine, serotonin and happiness index were measured 48 hours before and after the training period. Data were analyzed using paired t-test and analysis of covariance at the significant level of P˂, 0. 05. Results: The results of paired t-test showed that between pre-test and post-test in dopamine (p=0. 01, t=2. 19), serotonin (p=0. 001, t=-1. 23) and happiness (P=0. 003, t=-1. 79) There was a significant difference in TRX group. Also, the results of analysis of covariance showed that dopamine (P=0. 01, F=3. 5), serotonin (P= 0. 002, F =1. 91) and happiness (P=0. 003, F=3. 10) increase in the training group compared to the control group. Conclusion: It seems that total body resistance training can be effective in increasing happiness and mental health of the elderly while increasing serum levels of serotonin and dopamine.

Abstract:

Background and Objective: SIRT proteins are involved in the body's metabolic processes and homeostasis and are associated with oxidative stress due to aging and age-related diseases. Changes in these proteins in aging and the effect of physical activity on them have been less studied, so the aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of eight weeks of interval training on plasma levels of sirt1 and sirt3 proteins in inactive elderly men. Materials and Methods: In this study, 20 inactive elderly men aged 70-60 years were selected by available sampling and divided into experimental and control groups by simple random sampling. To investigate the effect of aging on plasma levels of Sirt1 and Sirt3 proteins, 10 inactive young men were selected by purposive sampling. The training program consisted of eight weeks of interval training with a moderate intensity of 50% of the reserve heart rate based on the principle of overload. Plasma levels of Sirt1 and Sirt3 proteins were measured in two stages of pre-test and post-test. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to compare the pre-test of the three groups and the analysis of covariance was used to compare the post-test of the two groups of training elderly and control elderly. Results: The results showed that plasma levels of Sirt1 and Sirt3 proteins in the elderly group were significantly lower than the young group (P <0. 05). Also, due to eight weeks of interval training, the levels of the above proteins increased significantly (P <0. 05). Conclusion: According to the results of this study, it seems that moderate interval exercise with increasing the Sirt1 and Sirt3 proteins, can reduce the oxidative stress caused by aging and lead to increased antioxidant defense and improve the quality of life in the elderly.

Abstract:

Background and Objective: The prevalence of overweight and sedentary lifestyle is one of the major health problems in the world that are associated with oxidative stress and vitamin D deficiency. In the present study, the effect of eight weeks of high intensity interval resistance training (HIIRT) on Sirtuin 1 and 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels in overweight women with vitamin D deficiency was investigated. Materials and Methods: This is a quasi-experimental study that was carried out on 26 overweight young inactive women with vitamin D deficiency. Subjects were selected accessibly and purposefully and then randomly assigned to the intervention and control groups (13 in each group). The main exercise consisted of three sets with 2. 5 minutes rest between sets. Each set started with 6 repetitions at an intensity of 80% one repetition maximum and continued with another 20 seconds rest until exhaustion (2 or 3 subsequent repetitions). Data were analyzed by independent t-test and one-way analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) at the significant level of p<0. 05. Results: HIIRT intervention led to a significant increase in Sirtuin 1, 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels as well as superoxide dismutase activity in overweight women with vitamin D deficiency. Conclusion: According to the results of the study, HIIRT as a nonpharmacological intervention can exert some of its supportive effects in overweight conditions with vitamin D deficiency, by improving the status of vitamin D and enhancing antioxidant defense from the Sirtuin 1/ superoxide dismutase pathway.
