Abstract: 

Background and objective: The main objerctive of the current study was to identify the ranking indicators based on the characteristics of third-generation universities of macro Medical Universities in region 1. Methods and Materials: This applied study was conducted with a mixed approach using a qualitative and quantitative approach with exploratory design. In the qualitative section, the Delphi method was used, and in quantitative part, the descriptive survey method was applied. In the qualitative section, the statistical population consisted 10 were selected by purposive sampling method based on saturation law, and 320 faculty members were selected as the sample using stratified random sampling method based on Cochran’ s formula out of 1851 subjects. In order to collect the data, 2 questionnaires were used. The face and content validity of the tools were approved. To analyze the data, the SPSS21 and PLS3. 2 software were used. Results: The results showed that ranking indicators had 8 dimensions of strategies, organization and leadership, education and culture, finance, interaction with the environment, performance and quality, technology and business and authority and reputation, among which the dimension of technology and business with a path coefficient of 0. 796 and the R2 value of 0. 634 had the highest impact on third generation universities and according to Friedman test, the first rank was given to the fiannce with a value of 5. 49. Conclusion: The results of structural equation test showed that the impact of ranking indicators on the characteristics of the third generation university was significant.

Abstract: 

Background and objective: The overall purpose of the present study was to investigate the impact of knowledge-based leadership on scientific authority in the Macro Medical Sciences Universities of region 1 in order to present a model. Methods and Materials: The study, conducted in 2020, was to apply an exploratory design with a mixed (qualitative and quantitative) approach. In the qualitative section, the Delphi method was used and in the quantitative section, a descriptive survey method was used to analyze the univeristies status quo. The statistical population for the qualitative section included 20 persons and the quantitative section consisted of professors, managers and deputies of departments and colleges of macro-medical sciences universities summing up to 1851 individuals. Using purposeful sampling for the qualitative part, 13 persons and 320 individuals were selected for the quantitative part using stratified random sampling based on Cochran formula. To collect data, a researchermade questionnaire on knowledge-based leadership with 91 questions and a scientific authority questionnaire with 60 questions were used. The exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and structural equations were used to analyze the data. Results: The results showed that knowledge-based leadership had a relation with scientific authority with the standard coefficient of 0/845. Conclusion: The impact of knowledge-based leadership on the scientific authority and internationalization of medical sciences universities was positive and significant, and the proposed model had a good fitness.

Abstract: 

Background and Purpose: Today, the competency of managers has become a key issue in various academic systems. However, so far, no comprehensive study has been conducted on research on the competence of managers in foreign studies. In addition, no study has been conducted on the competencies of medical university administrators with content analysis strategy. Therefore, the purpose of this study is a systematic review of studies conducted in the field of competency of managers in research abroad, then content analysis and categorization of findings to provide a model for managers of the University of Medical Sciences. Method: The present qualitative research has been compiled in two steps. In the first step, using the system review method, the keyword competencies managers were searched in the databases: Science Direct, Google Scholar, ERIC in the period 2006-2020, and out of 138 studies, 60 studies finally reached the final analysis. In the second step, using the thematic analysis method, the key concepts of 60 articles were extracted and categorized into the main themes. findings: The main themes of the competencies of the managers of the University of Medical Sciences in eight categories; Personality competencies, technical competencies, managerial competencies, financial competencies, organizational development competencies, interactive competencies, human resource competencies and entrepreneurial competencies are classified with 304 key concepts. Conclusion: Given the key role of universities in the development of diverse ecosystems, it is considered very important to pay attention to the competencies of managers who are at the forefront of decision-making and decisionmaking in medical universities. Based on the findings of this study, by categorizing the eight competencies, it is necessary for the authorities to take steps to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of medical universities by basing these competencies in selecting managers and adopting policies in this field.

Abstract: 

Background and objective: Systematic evaluation of the quality of professors and students as key elements in higher education system, largely guarantee the quality and effectiveness of teaching and learning. Therefore the present study was conducted with aim of evaluating the quality of professors and students of Basic Sciences Educational Groups of Shiraz School of Medicine in input and process section. Methods and Materials: The study sample consisted of 110 professors and 266 students. Census was used to select sample in sub-communities of professors and stratified ratio sampling was utilized to select sample in sub-communities of students. Then, separate questionnaire was prepared for professors and students and after the questionnaires were completed, the gathered data were analyzed using the criteria proposed by experts and professors and judgment spectrum. Results: The results showed that in input section, the quality of the students as an agent was relatively appropriate and the quality of professors as another agent was appropriate. Moreover in the process section, the quality of both students’ academic activities and professors’ educational activities were evaluated as appropriate. Conclusion: According to the findings, responsible people and planners of medical school should pay more attention to the quality of professors and students and enhance their educational activities based on continuous and systematic evaluation so that achieving the objectives of courses and fields of study become possible.

Abstract: 

Background and objective: Background and objective: Medical ethics is considered as one of the main principles of medical curriculum. The purpose of this project was designing desirable model curriculum with ethical based approach. Methods and Materials: This study did by mixed model, applied in goal and descriptive-analytical method. Qualitative data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 14 faculty members and analyzed by inductive qualitative content analysis. Questionnaire validity was calculated by Lawshe and Waltz & Bausell method by R software and its reliability determined by Cronbachs’ alpha coefficient with SPSS-21 software. The qualitative community consisted of 457 individuals out of the physicians and clinical residents from whom 210 were selected by stratified random sampling method. The confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), determining the model’ s dimensions and fitting model were done with Structural equation modeling method by Smart Pls-3. Results: In the qualitative part, 13 themes were extracted as the curriculum elements. The questionnaire’ s reliability and validity as R=0. 89, CVR=0. 9 and CVI=0. 93 were confirmed. In the CFA, the main themes were approved. The factor load coefficients, composite reliability and average variance extraction verified the model’ s construct reliability. Also convergent and Discriminant Validity indicated the proposed model being of fitness. Based on the results, medical ethics is under the influence of formal curriculum, teachers, students, hidden curriculum and external factors of the educational system. Conclusion: medical curriculum requires reform with a comprehensive approach in order to educate ethics bound students.

Abstract: 

Background and purpose: Oral health is one of the most important issues affecting public health. Regarding the high prevalence of dental decay and the high cost of treatment and the direct role of students in preventing dental decay, it is necessary for the students to acquire suitable knowledge, attitude and practice about oral health. Regarding lack of studies in this area, the study aimed to determine knowledge, attitude, practice and oral health status of elementary school students in Sari. Materials and Methods: The cross-sectional study was carried out on 300 boy elementary fifth and sixth grade students in Sari city who were selected by cluster random sampling. Data collection tool included questionnaire was a valid and reliable Yavari designed questionnaire which had four part of demographic information, knowledge, attitude, practice and self-reported oral health questionnaire. Data were analyzed using SPSS software 24 and via description and analytical One-Sample Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Kruskal-Wallis test and correlation coefficient. Results: Mean score of student’ s knowledge about oral health was (5/77± 2/03) out of 12, and their mean score of attitude was (36/41± 5/34) in range of 10-50 and mean score of practice was (14/23± 3/81) out of 24. The most reported practice was using toothpaste in brushing and the lowest reported behavior was using antibacterial mouth wash. There was a significantly positive correlation between knowledge, attitude, practice and self-reported oral health. Conclusion: Due to insufficient awareness of school children about their oral health as well as lower performance levels, especially in cases such as the use of antibacterial mouthwash and fluoride containing, brushing after each meal and sweets, providing educational programs in order to increase students knowledge and function about oral health, particularly in the areas above seem to be necessary.
