Abstract:

Introduction: Diabetes is one of the most common health problems in healthy people. One of the essential care strategies based on 5A self-management is to increase the potential of chronic patients. Therefore, this study was conducted in 2019s to impact the program's self-management based on the 5A on empowering salamanders with diabetes in the Clinic of Razi Hospital in Qaemshahr city. Methods: This semi-experimental experimental study was performed on 90 older adults with diabetes by simple random sampling in two test and control groups. In the test group, 12 sessions of 30-40 minutes of training were performed based on the 5A self-management. The instrument of this study is the Patient Empowerment Questionnaire. Results: The independent t-test did not show a significant difference between the two groups of test and control before the intervention (P < 0. 93), but after the intervention, it showed a significant difference (P < 0. 03). The ANOVA test showed a significant difference after eliminating the pre-test effect (P < 0. 032 and Eta = 0. 01) so that 10% of the post-test changes are due to the self-management. Conclusions: According to the results of this study, it can be said that the implementation of the 5A self-management model is one of the most important appropriate approaches to reduce the costs of treatment and care for the elderly with diabetes and improve their empowerment.

Abstract:

Introduction: Panic disorder has many emotional, physical, and cognitive symptoms, and people suffer from a decline in health. Since the cognitive rehabilitation program is an effective method for improving health-related features, present research aimed to determine the effectiveness of cognitive rehabilitation on quality of life, psychological flexibility, and health worry in patients with panic disorder. Methods: Present study was semi-experimental with a pretest and posttest design with the control group. The research population was patients with panic disorder of Ahvaz city in the 2020 year. About 40 people were selected by the available sampling method after reviewing the inclusion criteria and randomly replaced into two equal groups. The experimental group trained ten sessions of 45 minutes (two sessions per week) with the cognitive rehabilitation method, and the control group was placed on the waiting list for training. The research tools were the quality of life scale, psychological flexibility questionnaire, and health worry subscale in the anxious thoughts scale. Data were analyzed with appropriate statistical tests in SPSS-19 software. Results: The findings showed that the experimental and control groups did not significantly differ in gender, education, age, and marriage (P > 0. 05). Also, the pretest phase groups did not have a significant difference in terms of quality of life, psychological flexibility, and health worry (P > 0. 05). Still, in the posttest, a phase has a substantial difference in terms of all variables of quality of life, psychological flexibility, and health worry (P < 0. 001). Cognitive rehabilitation programs significantly increased quality of life and psychological flexibility and significantly decreased health worry in patients with panic disorder (P < 0. 001). Conclusions: The results indicated the effectiveness of cognitive rehabilitation program on quality of life and psychological flexibility, and decreasing health worry. Therefore, therapists and health experts can use the cognitive rehabilitation method and other ways to improve health-related features, especially in patients with panic disorder.

Abstract:

Introduction: Running poses an essential role in maintaining cardiovascular health. However, it has been demonstrated that 2. 5 to 38 injuries per 1, 000 hours of running can occur. The purpose of this study was to investigate ground reaction forces components during running with running shoes compared to control shoes in individuals with genu varum. Methods: This study was laboratory and semi-experimental. The statistical society includes all male students at the University of Mohaghegh Ardabili. The subjects of the study consist of 15 healthy males and 14 males with genu varum. Ground reaction force components were recorded using Bertec force plate during running in four conditions: barefoot, running shoes (Alborz shoes and agility shoes), and control shoes. Two ways ANOVA with repeated measure was used for statistical analyses. Results: Peak lateral ground reaction force at heel contact with Alborz shoes were higher than that of control shoes (P = 0. 001). Peak anterior ground reaction force component at the push-off phase with agility shoes were lower than those in control shoes (P < 0. 003) and barefoot (P < 0. 019) condition. Conclusions: Since Alborz shoes were able to reduce the peak lateral ground reaction force, using these shoes was recommended to reduce injuries. However, further study in this field is warranted.

Abstract:

Introduction: Despite the increasing prevalence of chronic diseases with increasing age and the impact on different activities of the older people, there are still conflicting results regarding the relationship between social participation, cognitive functioning, and mental health of the older people. This study aimed to determine the relationship between social participation with mental health and cognitive function of older people with chronic disease in Bushehr city, 2018. Methods: In this descriptive-analytical study, 278 older people covered by Bushehr Comprehensive Health Centers with chronic disease and at least 60 years old were studied by stratified random sampling. Demographic data collection, Canadian Social Participation Questionnaire, 28-item General Health Questionnaire, and Abbreviated Mental Test Questionnaire were used for data collection. Data were analyzed by SPSSv. 18 using descriptive and analytical statistical tests at the significant level of 0. 05. Results: The mean age of the older people was 67. 45± 6. 6 years. Visual disorders, cardiovascular disease, and musculoskeletal disorders were the most common diseases in older people. Most of the barriers to social participation of the participants were related to diseases and health problems, and impatience. Increasing social participation improved the mental health of the elderly (P=0. 001), but social involvement was not associated with the cognitive function of the elderly (P=0. 54). Increasing age was also associated with a decrease in social participation (p=0. 001) and cognitive function (P=0. 003) in the elderly, but it was not related to mental health (P=0. 90). By logistic regression analysis, only age was identified as the most critical cognitive function determinant (P=0. 002). Conclusions: Considering the role of age on cognitive function disorders, it is recommended that special nursing care be developed and implemented to strengthen the cognitive function and prevent cognitive function destruction in the elderly with chronic diseases. Also, the conditions for social activities of the older people with chronic diseases should be provided.

Abstract:

Introduction: Schizophrenia has a significant effect on the performance of patients, mostly Global of Functioning. The aim was to evaluate a self-care program's effectiveness based on Orem's model on the global function (GF) of patients with schizophrenia. Methods: Self-Care Training program was developed and evaluated based on the Orem self-care model in two phases. At first, in the qualitative phase, The program was designed and then implemented as a clinical trial with a three-month follow-up. In the implementation phase, 70 samples participated in a clinical trial study in control groups (35 people) and intervention (35 people). Examples were selected by simple random sampling. Then, randomly assigned to either the intervention and control group. The self-care intervention group participated in eight ninety-minute sessions, and the control group participated in three group sessions and expressed their problems and experiences. Data analyzed using the General Functioning Schisofern Patients' Questionnaire (GAF) at the beginning of the study, one month and three months after the Intervention was collected. The data were analyzed via SPSS version 20 and through the statistical exams. Results: The findings of the study showed that there was no significant difference between the control groups (55. 57± 8. 03) and the Intervention (55/06 ± 7. 46) before the Intervention (P > 0. 05). However, one month and three months after the study, the performance of the patients in the experimental group was higher than the control group (P < 0. 05), with a mean difference (-54. 543and-7. 544), respectively. Conclusions: The study results showed that self-care training based on Orem's selfcare model could increase patients' overall performance with schizophrenia. Therefore, it seems that such educational interventions with long-term follow-up are not only practical but also necessary.

Abstract:

Introduction: Cerebral palsy is the most common sensory-motor disorder that causes movement restriction and reducing social participation in children. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of eight-week combined strengthbalance training on muscle strength, balance, and quality of life in children with monoplegic cerebral palsy. Methods: The present study was quasi-experimental and was conducted as a pretestposttest with a control group. Sixteen boys, with the average age (13. 48 ± 1. 41 years) and with monoplegia cerebral palsy, were voluntarily selected and randomly divided into equal experimental (N = 8) and control (N = 8) groups. Participants in the experimental group participated in a combined strength and balance training program (3 days per week, for eight weeks). In contrast, those in the control group did not participate in an exercise program. Muscle strength, static balance, and quality of life were assessed before and after the exercise protocol. Data were analyzed using pair t and independent t-tests at a significance level of 0. 05. Results: After the 8-week training, a strength of the superior and affected hand, static balance, and quality of life, participants in the experimental group had significant improvement over their baseline values (P < 0. 001). The range of changes in all studied variables in the experimental group was significantly higher than the control group (P < 0. 01). Conclusions: Combining exercise training can improve muscle strength, balance, and quality of life in children with monoplegia cerebral palsy. However, a definite statement in this regard is required to further investigation.

Abstract:

Introduction: Many patients suffer from sexual dysfunction after coronary artery bypass graft surgery, which can have psychological, physical, and pharmacological backgrounds. Untreated sexual dysfunction will impair the quality of life of these patients. Therefore, this study was conducted to explain male patients' experiences with sexual problems after coronary artery bypass graft surgery. Methods: This qualitative study was performed with the approach of conventional content analysis in Tehran in 2020. The data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 18 men after coronary artery bypass graft surgery at the hospital's cardiac surgery clinic and the surgeon's clinic. Participants were selected by the targeted sampling method. After obtaining informed consent, the collected data were written word by word, and the content analysis approach was used to name the data, create analytical codes, and determine subcategories and categories Results: In this study, a significant category of Threatened public health after surgery was extracted, including three subcategories of physical limitations, mental limitations, and therapeutic limitations. Conclusions: The results of this study showed that sexual dysfunction is common in patients after coronary artery bypass graft surgery, and there are significant reasons including psychological, physical, and pharmacological factors that should be included in all of these. Serious attention should be paid so that patients return to their sexual life immediately after surgery and the quality of life of these patients is not impaired. Therefore, it is recommended that health policymakers create a culture and plan to solve the problems created in these patients' sexual relations.
