Background: Anatomy is an important course that students of medicine should take it at the first years of medical majors. For teaching anatomy's concepts, teachers use lecture more than interactive methods. We studied the effectiveness of game, as an interactive and fun method, to teach anatomy on satisfaction and learning progress and compared it with usual method without game. Methods: This quasi-experimental study was done among medical students of the first year in Isfahan University of Medical Sciences, Iran. Two game methods were used in two sessions and in other sessions teaching method was the usual teaching method without game. In using game, we noticed to rules of game as a teaching method. A questionnaire was used to assess students’ satisfaction. To assess their achievement, we compared grades of exam questions related to the sessions that were taught by game and without game.Findings: 4% of students accepted this method as an excellent method, 64% good and other students as an intermediate. Nobody told that little learned. About 64% were satisfied to use this method and 36% of students did not like it. Also 76% of students were very or somewhat interested in this method to use in other classes. In studying students' achievement, the result of paired t-test showed significance difference between the scores of two groups of questions in exam (P<0.001).Conclusion: According to more satisfaction and better learning, that’s better to use interactive methods like game instead of lecture in teaching anatomy.

Abstract:

Background: One of the main objectives of fifth program of economic, cultural and social development in Iran in health domain is the carrying out the family physician program and reference system. Nearly, 7 years after implementation of this big and widespread program in Iran, it is likely necessary to evaluate the efficiency of family physician program. For that, this research measured only the caregiver satisfaction in rural areas in Isfahan district. Methods: This descriptive-analytic study was carried on the population of rural areas in Isfahan district in those, family physician program has been implemented in 2011 Data was gathered by face to face interviewing with over 15-years old of age customers.Findings: The mean of caregiver satisfaction of family physician programs in rural area was 70.3 ± 10.5 percent. Nobody was completely unsatisfied from family physician services. But 15 people (3.8%) were unsatisfied of these services.250 people (62.5%) were satisfied of family physician services and 135 (33.8%) were completely satisfied. Conclusion: Good satisfaction after implementing the family physician program in rural areas defines the successfulness of health sector reform in primary health care in order to improve some of the indeces of people satisfaction.

Abstract:

Background: Renal osteodystrophy is a common finding in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) requiring dialysis (stages 3-5). Increased serum activity of bone isoform alkaline phosphatase is a good marker for investigating uremic osteodystrophy in these patients. Considering the important effect of vitamin D on calcium, mineral homeostasis and parathyroid hormone (PTH), the objective of this study was investigation of association between serum levels of PTH, 25 (OH) D3, Alkaline phosphatase (ALP), calcium (Ca) and inorganic phosphate (Pi) in hemodialysis patients. Methods: Ninety hemodialysis patients were included in this study. Mean age of the patients was 36.0 ± 11.4 years and duration of receiving dialysis was 2 months to 23 years (Mean ± SD: 80 ± 71 months). The serum levels of 25 (OH) D3, ALP, Ca and Pi and PTH were measured. Data analysis was performed using SPSS software.Findings: Abnormal levels of serum Ca and Pi were more common in men than women (Ca: 63.6% versus 52.8%, Pi: 72.7% versus 50%, in men and women respectively); but more women had abnormal serum levels of ALP, PTH and vitamin D compared to men (ALP: 75% versus 54.5%, PTH: 97.2% versus 94.5%, 25 (OH) D3: 63.9% versus 32.7%, in women and men respectively). Statistical correlation between serum levels of ALP and PTH (P=0.0500), PTH and hemodialysis duration (r=0.588, P<0.0005) were significant. No statistically significant correlation was observed between serum levels of PTH and other biochemical factors. Conclusion: In the majority of studied patients, the serum Pi and PTH levels were out of normal ranges that indicate poor management of hyperparathyroidism and Pi in these patients. According the results of this study, the intensity of secondary hyperparathyroidism and its deleterious effects on bone tissue was more common in women than men.

Abstract:

Background: Depression is one of the problems in postmenopausal women with the age of 55 to 65 years. This problem, due to physical disability and injuries which can create, is very important. Methods: In 2012, 100 women with depression were enrolled and randomly assigned to two groups (n=50) of intervention and control. The intervention group participated an 8-week aerobic exercise program (3 sessions per week for an hour), but the control group did not receive any intervention. The collected data included the Beck Depression Inventory results before and after aerobic exercise. Data analysis was performed using ANOVA test with repeated measures.Findings: There was a significant difference in the rate of depression prevalence between the intervention and control groups after 8 weeks (P<0.05).Conclusion: The results showed that aerobic exercise increased the muscular strength and self-esteem and decreased depression. It appears that using these exercises could be useful as a complementary therapy in postmenopausal women with depression.
