Abstract: 

Introduction: Telomere maintenance is essential for the continued proliferation of dividing cells, and is implicated in chromosome stability and cell immortalization. Telomerase activity, that allows cancer cells to maintain their telomeric DNA for an indefinite replicative capacity, is an attractive target against cancer. A well known benzylisoquinoline alkaloid, papaverine, we focused on to evaluate its antiproliferaive effects on breast cancer MCF7 cells.Methods: Cytotoxicity of the commercially available pure compound papaverine HCl (Sigma) was determined by MTT assay. A modified quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) -based telomerase repeat amplification protocol (TRAP) was used to estimate relative telomerase activity in papaverine-treated cells in comparison with the untreated control cells. Relative expression level of the catalytic subunit of telomerase (hTERT) gene was estimated using real time reverse transcription-PCR (RT-PCR).Results: IC50 concentration of papaverine after 48 hours treatment was measured to 120 micromolar At this concentration telomerase activity showed a considerable decrease (almost 70% in comparison with untreated control cells), in a concentration dependent manner. Quantitative real-time RT-PCR experiments indicated a similar reduction in transcription level of hTERT gene under treatment with papaverine.Conclusion: Papaverine is a potent natural compound in suppression of cancer cell immortality most probably by antitelomerase activity. It is a valuable putative compound for further development of promising anti-cancer agents.

Abstract: 

Introduction and Aim: Nowedays vitamin A consumption to compensate for the lack of it in the body or healing of skin disorders without considering respective side effects is so common. In this research the protective effect of saffron hydro alcoholic extracts on liver enzymes following vitamin A toxicity was investigated.Materials and Methods: In the experimental study 48 rats were divided into 6 groups of 8, namely control, sham and 4experimental.Control group didn’t received anythings, sham group received only distilled water. The experimental group1 Number1 received saffron hydro alcoholic extract with 50mg/kg dose for 15 days. Experimental groups 3, 4, 5, initially received vitamin A 50000IU for 15 days. The experimental groups 4, 5 received saffron hydro alcoholic extract with 50, 80 (mg/kg) dose for 15 days. At the end of this period, blood was collected from the hearts for measuring the amounts of AST, ALT and ALP. Obtained data were statistically analyzed using statistical tests including one way variance analysis and tukey test. P<0.05 was considered significant.Results: Levels of AST, ALT, ALP in the experimental group 1 that received only the extracts with 50 mg/kg dose didn't exhibit any change in comparison with control and sham group (P<0.05). In the experimental group2 that received only vitamin A was observed a dramatic difference in the enzymes in comparison compare with control and sham groups. In the experimental group 3 that received vitamin A plus saffron hydro alcoholic extracts with 50 mg/kg dose, there wasn't any significant difference in the mentioned liver enzymes, in comparison with the experimental group 2 (P<0.05).In the experimental group 4 that received vitamin A plus saffron hydro alcoholic extracts with 80 mg/kg dose, the level of AST, ALT.ALP in comparison with experimental group 2 that received only vitamin A show significan difference (P<0.05).Conclusion: Considering the present fidings, saffron extracts seems to protect hepatocytes against oxidative stress caused by hypervitaminosis A due to its antioxidant compounds.

Abstract: 

Background: Phenol is one of the main components concerned in the industrial wastewater. Physicochemical or conventional biological methods are usually used for the treatment of wastewater with high concentrations of phenol. At present study, the adsorption potential of phenol from aqueous solutions by Pistachio hull ash was investigated.Materials and methods: Present study is an experimental survey that was performed in a batch system. To study the efficiency of Pistachio hull ash in phenol removal from aqueous solutions, the effect of critical variables such as contact time (15, 30, 45, 60, 75, 90, 105 and 120 min), initial phenol concentration (5, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 100 mg/L), adsorbent dosage (0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5 and 0.6 g/L) and initial pH of solution (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13) was investigated.Results: Maximum adsorption capacity of the Pistachio hull ash was 327.6 mg/g at pH 5, initial concentration of 100 mg/L and reaction time 45 min, which 98.28% of the phenol was removed.The adsorption equilibriums were analyzed by Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models. It was found that the data fitted to Freundlich (R2=0.9436) better than Langmuir (R2=0.8395) model.Conclusion: According to achieved results, it was observed that Pistachio hull not only was an inexpensive absorbent, but also a quite effective factor in removal of phenol from water and wastewater.

Abstract: 

Objectives: improving patient safety culture in healthcare organization is the first step for reducing medical errors and improvement of patient safety. This study was conducted to survey the patient safety culture based on staff point of views in Sabzevar hospitals.Methods: This cross-sectional and descriptive study was conducted during July-September 2011, by using Hospital Survey Of Patient Safety Culture questionnaire (HSOPSC).385 of clinical staff (physicians, nurses, midwives and stuff working in lab and radiology departments) as census were included in the study. The patient safety culture questionnaire was used for data collection.Results: “teamwork within unit” and “organizational learning - continuous improvement” had the highest percentages of positive responses with respectively 73.65±6.4 % and 69.16±8.7% whereas “nonpunitive response” to errors (13.03±7.1%) and “staffing” (22.37±6%) had the chosen lowest percentages of positive responses.89% of staff noted that they have not reported any medical errors during past 12 months. Only 31% of staff reported the patient safety status in their units as excellent or very good.Conclusion: Hospitals can attempt to create safety environment for patients by applying the strengths of their patient safety culture and removing the weaknesses. Therefore hospitals should eliminate the staff fear of blame for their mistakes and create an atmosphere of open communications and continuous learning.

Abstract: 

Background and objective: Due to the increasing incidence and prevalence of coronary heart disease and emphasis on researchers of Health on Association Biological and psychological factors and cardiac biomarkers with incidence and persistence of cardiovascular disease are felt more than ever necessary to analyze the relationship between Coping Ways with Stress and Low-density lipoprotein (LDL), But until now researchers have not explored it empirically, So The aim of this study was to examine the relation between Coping Ways with Stress and Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) in Coronary Heart Disease patients.Materials and methods: This is a correlation study. Statistical community were All patients CHD Shahid Rajaie Heart Hospital in Tehran.44 patients with CHD admitted to the women and men surgical department surgery, women and men local department and private sector hospitals that CHD confirmed by angiography had been chosen from among eligible patients. Condition. In this study was used of Coping Ways questionnaire-Lazarus and Folkman and Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) kit. For statistical analysis of research data was usedIndicators and descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation and multiple regression analysis with stepwise method. The computer software used in this study for data processing was SPSS/17.Results: The results showed there are Positive and significant correlation between Emotional Focused Coping Ways (Inefficient) and Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and also Negative and significant correlation between Problem Focused Coping Ways (Efficient) and Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and coefficient of positive re-evaluation coping way (b=-0.737) ccording to the T test show that the variables with 99% confidence can be predicted to the changes related to Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and also coefficients of positive re-evaluation and Responsibility coping waysaccording to the T test show that the variables with 99% confidence can be predicted to the changes related to Low-density lipoprotein (LDL).Conclusion: In sum, we conclude that the increased use of Emotional Focused Coping Ways lead to increases in levels of Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and increased in the use of Problem Focused Coping Ways lead to decreased in levels of Low-density lipoprotein (LDL).

Abstract: 

Background: Cytisus scoparius is an ornamental and highly aromatic plant. The petals and stamens in aromatic plants are important allergenic agents. The aim of this study is examination study of allergenicity of petal and stamen in middle-aged ontogenical stage of Cytisus scoparius L. in guinea pig.Methology: In this experimental study, 9 guinea pigs from hartly stirps were randomly selected and divided into three equal groups. Plant extracts were prepared with 16% concentration and injected intraperitoneally to guinea pigs. The first group was considered as negative control (injected with phosphate buffered saline). The second and the third groups received petal extract and petal+stamen extract respectively. In addition intraperitoneal injections within 4 weeks, once per week, subcutaneous injection was performed in the fifth week. Finally, a week after the last injection was taken blood sampling directly from the heart of animals, and the number of eosinophils, immunoglobulin E and blood sugar levels were measured in experimental groups and analyzed data.Results: Skin test (Created wheal diameter) and serological tests (levels of immunoglobulin E, eosinophils, and blood glucose) in both groups treated with Cytisus scoparius L. significantly increased compared to controls. Electrophoretic profiles was observed about 4 protein bands (2 light protein bands and 2 pale protein bands) in the range of 27 to 85 kD in the middle-aged petal and about 6 more specific protein bands in the range of 10 to 75 kD in middle-aged petal whit stamen proteins.Conclusion: The results showed that petal of ontogenical stage of middle-aged in Cytisus scoparius have allergenicity property and and this effect is exacerbated when they are together with stamens.

Abstract: 

Introduction: The old age is one of the inevitable period of each person's life that correct cognition and reaction toward it can improve (alter) the life's quality. The good life's quality is related to happiness and stress decreasing therefore, the aim of the present study was the determining of the efficacy of stress inoculation training upon the happiness rate and life's quality of old (aged) persons of Mazandaran.Materials and Methods: method research Quasi-experimental and design of pre-test-post-test control group was. the statistical universe of the present study was consist of the all old persons of Mazandaran (223 persons) that lived at boarding-house institutions. after executing the happiness and life's quality questionnaires, 40 person's having the least happiness rate and life's quality, were selected randomly, put into two groups (experimental and control). In order to gather the data, oxford happiness questionnaire and life quality questionnaire of worldly hygiene foundation were used the instruction program of stress inoculation was done in experiment group at 8 sessions every session, including 60 minutes for two month and After completion of training, two months later both groups (experimental and control) happiness and quality of life questionnaires in the same situation and the same were completed and evaluated.Resulting: The results gained from the study using covariance analysis revealed that the stress inoculation training was meaningful (significant) upon happiness and life's quality for experimental group.Conclusion: therefore, according to the results, the stress inoculation is effective upon the increasing of happiness and life' s quality of old (aged) persons.

Abstract: 

Background and purpose: Appetite is one of the factors influencing the energy equation and with different levels of control and setting. Physical activity is one of the possible factors. For this reason, the purpose of this study was to compare the effect of one session of swimming, resistance and aerobic exercise on the student girl’s appetite.Methods: research design was used mid tentative and the target population consisted entirely girl’s student of the University. Among them, 60 females randomly in 4 groups of 15 persons swimming, resistance, aerobic exercise and control and performed protocol exercise within 90 minutes. The appetite was recorded by appetite questionnaire before, immediately after exercise and 3 hours after the exercise protocol. The food given to girl’s before and on the day of the exercises was similar. Also glucose and lactate of the blood measurement in before each stages module appetite. Data was analyzed using repeated measure ANOVA at significant level P<0.05.Findings: Results indicate that immediately after one session swimming, resistance and aerobic exercise were no significant changes in student girl’s appetite P=0.135 and after 3 exercise increased appetite scale in 3 hour next P=0.003. Also, there is no significant difference in changes in appetite, between the three exercise groups P=0.325. Scale glucose of the blood was no significant changes immediately after 3 exercises and were significant decreased in 3 hour next. lactate level of the blood was significant increased immediately after 3 exercises and return amount basis in 3 hour next.Conclusions: It can be said that one session swimming, resistance and aerobic exercise had no significant effects on appetite. However, to achieve more conclusive results, further in vestigation is warrented.

Abstract: 

Background and objective: Sexual aspect is one of the most important domains of matrimony satisfaction. Sexual satisfaction has an important role in psychological health of women.Hormonal changes that occur in menopausal period can result in decrease of sexual satisfaction. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of Ginkgo biloba extract (GBE) on sexual function in menopausal women.Materials and methods: In this Triple-blind placebo-controlled trial, 80 healthy female volunteers aged 60 -50 years, attending 3 health-care centers of Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS), were enrolled. The participants received GBE at a dose of 120–240 mg (n=40) or placebo (n=40) daily for 30 days. The instrument of this study was the Sabbatsberg Sexual Rating Scale (SSRS) which the part of it subjectively evaluate sexual satisfaction before and after intervention. The results were analyzed by using, Fisher exact test, independent samples test and Mann-Whitney Test which these had done by SPSS software, version of 16.Result: After intervention, the sexual satisfaction had no significant difference between the two groups of Ginkgo biloba and placebo (P=0.31). Also there was no significant difference in the sexual satisfaction compared to the results obtained in the previous years (0.96).Conclusion: In this study using Ginkgo biloba for a month had no effect on sexual satisfaction of menopausal women. With regarded to many factors can be affected sexual function of menopausal women, no efficacy of Ginkgo biloba on sexual satisfaction can be result of no efficacy of it on factors such as psychological factors.

Abstract: 

Background: emotional intelligence is a complex of abilities and could be learend. The main goal of this research was investigate the impact of emotional intelligence education on martyred foundation social workers.Materials and Methods: This study was a quasi-experimental study. Research design was pre test-post test with control group that participants After random selection perch in the experimental group and the control group. The sample size consisted of 25 subjects (13 control and 12 experimentation) of Guilan’s martyred social workers selected by random sampling method.After the pre-test, test group for two months (eight 90-minute sessions), participated in the training sessions, emotional intelligence. After training, both groups were post-tested.Instrument of this research was Trait Meta Mood Scale (TMMS). From the standard deviation and variance for the analysis of demographic data and paired t-test and independent t was used to compare groups with self and their front groups.Findings: From Performance paired and independent t-test result that the mean difference between the experimental group is higher than before the implementation classes and The difference between the experimental group and the control group (94.2=t, 008/0 p<) is statistically significant. Also in analysis of the subscales observed that two Groups in the emotional attention subscale (5=t,=00025/0 p<) and emotional differentiation (19.2=t, 039/0 p<) are significantly different than before training But the analysis of the subscales of reconstruction mood (91.1=t, 068/0 p<), the difference was not significant.Results: Analysis of the results showed that in both of control and experimental groups before and after training, there are statistically significant differences and Group test training has elevated levels of Worker’s emotional intelligence.

Abstract: 

Introduction: Unnecessary use of chemical manure in order to increase the crop production, particularly in the agricultural sector, causes environmental damages and disorder in terms of soil fertility. In the manure preparation method through the biogas, organic manure of high quality can be produced in addition to obtaining gas. The purpose of this study is to examine the physical as well as chemical properties of the manure produced by the combined wastes of livestock and poultry using biogas system.Research method: In order to put the pilot project into operation, livestock and poultry wastes were primarily collected and were added to the planned pilot in a proportional ratio of 1: 2. After about two months, the produced gas was measured and the parameters of the manure were analyzed according to the pilot sample and subsequently, they were compared with the existing standards. Using EXCEL, the gathered data were analyzed.Results: PH rate obtained from the manure was estimated to be 7.2. Reportedly, the electrical conductivity of the sample was equal to 29.53 ml. Siemens/cm. and the humidity was 5%. The organic compounds in the sample were 8.19% and ash was 8.58%. Furthermore, the rate of the organic carbon for the sample was 40% and the size of the uniformed particles was of the highest mesh, i.e.50. The manure obtained has a phosphorous concentration of 1 mg/l and the sodium concentration obtained were 94 mg/l and potassium 74 mg/l.Discussion and conclusion: Findings indicate that the rate of organic materials, phosphorus, ash and organic carbon are consistent with the standards set by WHO. With regard to low cost, availability, being danger-free and enriched as well as the simultaneous use of the gas produced, the manure obtained through the biogas can be considered a suitable kind of manure for agriculture.

Abstract: 

Background and Purpose: Tracheostomy is a second selective approach to management the upper respiratory tract obstructions after intubation and used in patients who require long-term ventilation. This article reports a rare complication, entering the fractured tracheostomy tube into the left bronchus.The Patient: A 74-year-old man with a large hematoma in the right frontal lobe, Craniotomy surgery and evacuated of hematoma was done. A Patient's metal tracheostomy tube fractured and entered into the left bronchus that is a rare complication. The ICU staff immediately recognized and ENT specialist removed the fractured tube with rigid bronchoscopy.Conclusion: Fracturing of the Tracheostomy tube is one of the rare complications that need careful examination before the tubes used and applying the standard tracheostomy tube Should be considered.

Abstract: 

Background: The purpose this study was the effect of one session endurance running (5000 m) on the level of serum electrolytes.Materials and methods: In this quasi-experimental, 14 male runners participated in the test, voluntarily. After warm-up, subjects ran distances of 5, 000 meters in 23 minutes and participated in the second blood sampling. Photometer and spectrophotometer video device to determine blood electrolytes were used.Results: 5, 000-meter run at Tehran's climate caused significant change in serum sodium (p=0.039, t=2.30).Serum calcium levels also rose significantly in the amount of 7.1 percent (p=0.005, t=-3.37).Conclusion: the 5000-meter run, Increases in sodium and calcium in the blood serum and Reduces the amount of potassium.
