Abstract

The present paper aims at exploring the effects of environmental and SOCIAL BONDS variables on citizens' sense of SECURITY. It is theoretically and empirically believed that citizens' sense of SECURITY is affected by different factors including individuals and social characteristics as well as economic and structural features of the environment.Questionnaire was used to collect the required data from among 400 citizens (men and women) of Shiraz to examine and determine the role of the above-mentioned factors on sense of SECURITY. The results showed that individual and structural features exert effects on the neighbors' SOCIAL BONDS. The results also demonstrated that despite their positive role in improving SOCIAL BONDS, some structural features leads to increase in sense of SECURITY.
