Title

THE FUNDAMENTS OF KHAYYAM'S MYSTICISM AND PHILOSOPHY

Pages

  7-30

Abstract

Khayyam’s poems have been interpreted differently for many years. A group of interpreters of his poem(s) have considered his thoughts as mystic. But it is obvious that such an interpretation is not compatible with any of the criteria of schools of Islamic MYSTICISM and it is beyond the norms of scientific research. It must be stated that it is prerequisite for the doctrines of precise interpretation to define every mystic thought, and then evaluate Khayyam’s thoughts against them. In this way, we can recognize the range of similarities and dissimilarities of the two.
