Abstract

Making use of computerized cataloging during the last decades, libraries have experienced new patterns of arranging bibliographic records in catalogs which may also be used in the CATALOGING OF MANUSCRIPTS. FRBR conceptual model issued by IFLA in 1997 could be named as an example of such new patterns. The experiences of applying FRBR model have revealed interesting and promising results in the cataloging of old manuscripts.After providing a brief introduction to FRBR of and Providing some cases of using such a pattern in the cataloging manuscripts, this study, by use of a survey and analysis method, attempts to identify the most important characteristics and attributes of FRBR pattern. Since there have not yet been any research the present on the cataloging manuscripts in Iran by use FRBR model, the present study could be used for future studies on the same topic.
