Abstract

The present research paper, which is an applied STUDY survey method, focuses on the subjects' attitude towards reading and its relationship with Maslow's hierarchy' of needs. A sample of 1535 subjects, between age ranges of 12-60 from four cities in Khorasan Razavi province, was asked to fill out a questionnaire. The results showed that the studied population have positive attitude towards reading and esteem needs are at the high level among them. Correlation coefficient test showed a significant correlation between MASLOW'S HIERARCHY OF NEEDS and READING ATTITUDEs of the subjects. F tests showed meaningful differences among the subjects attitude relating to their age, academic degree and job categories. Also, t test indicated a significant difference between the male and female attitudes towards reading.
