A SURVEY OF USERS SATISFACTION OF INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION WITH LIBRARIANS AND THE FACTORS INFLUENCING IT: A CASE STUDY OF FERDOWSI UNIVERSITY OF MASHHAD

Abstract

 Purpose: This research aimed to study the status of SATISFACTION of users regarding their communication with LIBRARIANS and the effective factors influencing it.Methodology: A questionnaire was used in this survey for collecting data. Research population .consisted of undergraduate STUDENTS of third and fourth years of education Findings/Results: Findings showed that the most important factors influencing the SATISFACTION of STUDENTS about LIBRARIANS are: to be interested in serving patrons, signs and movements, being aware of the presence of others, refusing the use of particular words, active listening, satisfactory end for interaction, the tone of voice and the control of feelings. Also there is a significant direct relationship between the degree of COMMUNICATION SKILLS of LIBRARIANS and the SATISFACTION of STUDENTS from communicating with LIBRARIANS. Another finding of research showed that the degree of SATISFACTION of STUDENTS from communicating with LIBRARIANS was good and there was a significant difference between the extent of SATISFACTION of STUDENTS from communicating with LIBRARIANS among the four areas of study. Moreover, the examination of the effect of gender on SATISFACTION of STUDENTS revealed that there was no significant relationship between SATISFACTION of STUDENTS and. cornmunicating with the same sex and opposite sex LIBRARIANS.
