Abstract

Objective: In this study we tried to measure the impact of INFORMATION LITERACY of public LIBRARIANS on LIBRARY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS including loan, membership, and visit activities.Method: For this purposeT we planned a survey. A questionnaire of INFORMATION LITERACY was distributed among LIBRARIANS in 32 PUBLIC LIBRARIES in Tehran who were selected randomly. The aim was to measure the score of INFORMATION LITERACY among them. Then the number of loan, members, and visits in the year 1389 were extracted from each library and were matched with the librarian's INFORMATION LITERACY scores. The Pearson correlation coefficient was used to show the effect of INFORMATION LITERACY on these performance indicators.Results: According to the research findings, INFORMATION LITERACY of public LIBRARIANS in Tehran is higher than the average. But INFORMATION LITERACY of LIBRARIANS has no significant correlation with the performance indicators.Originality / value: We showed that there is a fundamental problem in organizing PUBLIC LIBRARIES in line with the conditions and needs of our society. This problem causes the INFORMATION LITERACY of LIBRARIANS to be ineffective on the library performance.
