Abstract

The aim of this paper is to investigate the necessity of developiong an emergency plan in libraries/archives. Emergency situation is an unpredictable situation that can cause damages to the staff, buildings, collections and archives. It can be natural or man-made. Emergency response is the action to minimize The future damages. Emergency plan is the action that guarantee the security of staff, collections and buildings in emergency situations. The most important problem is security and prevention of disaster in the library/archive. Alhough the safety and security of people are the first priority, but particular care must he taken to The protection of collections. Facing severe disasters the impact of external factors can be within control with an emergency plan.
