Abstract

This article presents the results of a research conducted with purpose of Identification and ranking of effective criteria on site selection for public libraries. Studying previous researches and experiments on similar contexts resulted in selecting 6 major and 24 minor criteria for site selection. Ranking of these criteria was performed based on Library Science and Geography –Urban planning experts’ viewpoints and applying FUZZY TOPSIS and FUZZY ANP techniques. After final analysis assigning importance value (weight) to each major and minor criterion, CONSISTENCY, CENTRALITY, SIZE AND SPACE, native factor and properties, PHYSIOGRAPHY and SITE ORIENTATION of library, placed first to sixth in descending order of significance. These results could be used in site selection of public libraries, hoping this could initiate future researches.
