Abstract

Background and Aims: HIV is increasingly spreading to the extent that the rate of affliction has reached to %5 in high-risk groups. The present study aimed to study the ATTITUDEs of clients referring to dentistry unit of Sarbisheh regarding HIV disease.Materials and Methods: This is a cross-sectional descriptive-analytical study was carried out on 350 clients referring to dentistry unit. Data were collected through standard questionnaire and analyzed by SPSS, T-test and ANOVA (Variance Analysis).Results: In this study, 22.8, 61.6 and 15.6 percent of clients were respectively younger than 30 years old, between 30-49 years old and older than 50 years old.19.5 and 80.5 percent of the participants were respectively single and married. As far as the education level is concerned, 30.3, 50.6, and 17.5 percent were respectively diploma, elementary and secondary, and with higher education while the remaining were illiterate. The source of getting information about HIV was reported for Radio and TV, %66.1, newspapers, magazines and books % 16, advertising posters %8 and friends %9.9.As indicated by the results, %39, %47 and %14 of clients respectively had optimal, medium and weak awareness of HIV.Conclusion: Considering the low rate of clients’ awareness and ATTITUDE toward HIV, providing and spreading education is recommended, especially for villagers to make them more aware of transmission ways and prevention means of this disease.
