Abstract

Background & aim: Tabriz is the pole of developmental care in Iran and Family-centered Care is implemented in Neonatal Intensive Care Units. However, detailed information about the amount of received Family-centered Care by Mothers is not available. Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine the Perception of Preterm Infant Mothers from Receiving Family-centered Care in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Methods: The present study is a descriptive cross-sectional study that was performed on 150 Mothers of premature infants admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Tabriz hospitals in 1400. Data were collected using tool of parental Perception of Family-centered Care (PFCCP) in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Data were analyzed using SPSS software version 21 and Pearson correlation, chi-square and regression tests. Statisticaly significance was considered at p<0. 05. Result: The results showed that in the dimensions of Family-centered Care, Mothers gave the most score to the dimension of respect and the least to the dimension of support. Also, the mean score of Mothers on receiving family-oriented care was 2. 14±, 0. 19. In this study, there was no significant relationship between Mothers' Perceptions of receiving Family-centered Care and their demographic characteristics. Conclusion: The results of the present study showed that despite the policy in Neonatal Intensive Care Units based on the implementation of Family-centered Care, Mothers do not have a perfect Perception of receiving these services, so there is a need for basic changes in the structures, human resources, and policies of hospitals.
