Abstract

Background and Aims: Musculoskeletal disorders are global problems and have a significant impact on quality of life. Studies show that the symptoms are shown in Dental Students before graduation. The purpose of this study was to investigate the Prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders in Dental Students of mazandaran medical science university and its difference between right and left handed students. In duration of 2020 to 2021. Material and Methods: The current study is a cross-sectional descriptive-analytical study. The statistical population of this study was Dental Students in pre-clinic and clinic of Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences. In this study, the Nordic questionnaire was distributed among students. 133 Dental Students voluntarily participated in this study and 12 students were excluded according to the exclusion criteria,As a result, data analysis of questionnaires of 121 students was made. Descriptive statistics were reported using frequency and percentage. The data obtained from the questionnaires have been analyzed using SPSS 22 statistical software. Results: General Prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders was 63. 15 I. Most common discomfort during previous 12 month were related to neck (45. 5%), shoulder (35. 5%) and upper waist (39. 9%). No significant relationship was present between sex and musculoskelat lisorders (p=0. 89) No significant relationship was found between right handed/ left handed variables and musculoskeletal disorders (P-Value= 0. 862). Conclusion: The Prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders among Dental Students is high. Prevalence measures and further educations must be provided in dental schools.
