Abstract

One of the important factors affecting the type and degree of research activities of universities' teaching staff is the special attitude there is in the society toward the nature and characteristics of the humanities as opposed to other fields of study. In this article, the writer raises questions such as the following: To what extent do scientific advances and social values of scientific fields in the social organization of science depend on the subject matter of the fields, the methods they use and their epistemological dimensions. If more success is achieved in certain fields, what does this success signify? Do scientific advances in one field imply a superiority of that field in scientific position?
