Abstract

ACCOUNTING INFORMATION SYSTEMS, as a major subsystem of the MIS, provides most of managerial information. Review of effectiveness. And efficiency of organizational information systems may help the managers in any change, enhancement or promotion of these systems. Benchmarks for evaluating information systems can help managers in deciding about the selection of proper systems.Since the system implementation process is a very expensive and time consuming process, cost -benefit review and VALUE ADDED analysis of these software’s is very important. In this article, we cocentrate on measuring of cost-benefit and VALUE ADDED aspects of accounting packages in Iran. Since most of the benefits and costs are qualitative and cannot be measured by monetary equivalent, in this research, we refer to judgments of system users. Findings, in contrast with the same ones in developed countries, showed that these packages could not produce VALUE ADDED in Iranian companies.
