Abstract

USA, as a country that is relied on its maritime industry, is very dependent on its ports from economic and strategic point of view and its enemies have been well aware of this fact during the world campaign against terrorism. A successful attack against vital marine infrastructures of the ports can create great disorders in the economy of the country and cause many damages and fatalities. In the past, USA have been faced many military attacks in its coasts and ports. Using the lessons have learned from these attacks (that should be viewed in the light of new non-concurrent terrorist threats), USA have proposed a worthwhile suggestion to defend its ports in this modern world. Using and evaluating the lessons have learned in the past and with regard to the abilities of current multi-sector marine agencies, we can find a reliable and suitable way for the logical commanding and use it to arrange the efforts that agents have done in defense of vital marine infrastructures in an effective manner.
