Abstract

Following the rehabilitation of the Aristotelian rhetoric by Chaїm Perelman and the achievements of pragmatic linguistics, an analytical approach developed within the field of discourse analysis whose aim was to study the argumentative mechanism and function of discourse. ARGUMENTATIVE ANALYSIS is based on a broad conception of the concept of argumentation and thus it is applicable both in factual texts and fictional and poetic texts. Within this framework, the ethos or image the writer or speaker, depending on the argumentative objectives, projects in his discourse is considered to be an inseparable part of any discourse, whether merely argumentative or with an argumentative dimension. The present article aims to study the argumentative ethos Hafez creates through his ghazals in the mind of his audience. For this purpose, first, the concept of ethos and other concepts central to this study are introduced and defined; then, while discussing the concept of ETHICAL HETEROGENEITY in THE GHAZALS OF HAFEZ and differentiating four kinds of ethos in his ghazals, we examine the argumentative elements that create such ethoses in the mind of the readers. French: Etude de l’ethos discursif dans la poésie de Hafez La réhabilitation de la rhétorique aristotélicienne à la suite des travaux de Chaїm Perelman et des acquis de la linguistique pragmatique a donné naissance, au sein du domaine de l’analyse du discours, à une approche analytique qui se propose d’étudier le fonctionnement argumentatif du discours. Partant d’une conception assez large de l’argumentation, cette analyse argumentative a pour mérite de porter aussi bien sur les textes factuels que fictionnels et poétiques. Dans le cadre de cette analyse, l’ethos ou l’image que l’orateur projette de soi dans son discours en fonction de ses objectifs argumentatifs est considéré comme partie intégrante de tout discours à visée ou à dimension argumentative. Notre étude vise à analyser l’ethos discursif que Hafez produit à travers ses ghazals. Pour ce faire, dans un premier temps, nous allons présenter et définir la notion d’ethos et les outils conceptuels nécessaires à son étude. Ensuite, en introduisant la notion d’hétérogénéité éthique dans les ghazals de Hafez et en distinguant entre quatre ethè différents qui y sont reflétés, nous étudierons les éléments discursifs qui participent à la production de ces ethè.
