Abstract

Darwin’ s evolution theory states that species which adapt to their environment survive while those not adapting to the environment are eliminated. This phenomenon can also be seen in survival and dynamics of academic disciplines. Due to timely reactions to current or future changes, some disciplines can adapt with current conditions, and therefore manage to continue their existence as essential parts of the society. On the other hand, disciplines which do not pay attention to strengthening and resistance against changes, or those with passive reactions to these changes, have a smaller change for survival.
