Abstract

The purpose of rural development, that is a multi - dimensional process, is to improve the quality of life of the vulnerable rural class. Recently rural development has been discussed in the form of cooperative development, which includes the dimensions of integrated rural development and participation of people. One of the dimensions of this development that can have comprehensive effect on rural life is the expansion of rural TOURISM. Rural TOURISM through its impact on all aspects of the rural life can make social and economic growth possible. It is actually a form of the participation of all classes of society in the development process. This research is intended to study social and economic results of TOURISM in a rural region named Ziarat in suburb of Gorgan in the north of Iran by SWOT model.
