Abstract

 One of the recent developments in the scope of cataloging is to create a link among the metadata records based on conceptual patterns. This can provide the necessary infrastructure to implement the “ link data” methods on library catalogue. One of the newest conceptual patterns presented by the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) is Library Reference Model (LRM). This research has been done with the purpose of determining Functionality of Persian Medical Thesaurus Database in the form of IRANMARC on the basis of IFLA Library Reference Model. This is an analytical-comparative study that was done using qualitative approaches. The statistical society consists of all the records of Persian Medical Thesaurus Database available in the software of National Library of I. R. IRAN (Rasa). First, LRM/UNIMARC/IRANMARC Mapping was developed and LRM’ s elements were quantified. Then, structure and content compatibility in IRANMARC Authorities Format was done. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical and SPSS v. 23 software. The data showed that 83. 33 percent of attributes of LRM model have their equivalent IRANMARC Authorities Format. The average structural compatibility rate of IRANMARC with LRM model is 83. 29. Results also indicate that there is acceptable compatibility between LRM model and IRANMARC Authorities Format.
