Abstract

The objective of this research was to study Barriers of starting and expanding Home based businesses in rural areas of Urmia County. The research was an applied research and a descriptive research in terms of goal and method of data collection, respectively. The target population of the research consisted of all rural residents who were owners of registered and approved Home based businesses in rural areas of Urmia County (N= 277). According to Krejcie and Morgan table, a sample size of 181 was selected using a simple random sampling method. Data were collected by a researcher-made questionnaire. A panel of experts confirmed validity of the questionnaire. A pilot study was conducted to establish reliability of the instrument. Cronbach’ s alpha coefficient for the main scale of the questionnaire was equal to 0. 82. Data were analyzed using SPSSWin20 and AMOS20 softwares. The results showed that five factors namely, supportive weakness, restrictions of Home based businesses, infrastructural and cultural weakness, knowledge and informative weakness and lack of related laws, by explaining 66. 483 percent of total variances, have gained the priority of first to five in forming and identifying the construct of “ Barriers of starting and expanding Home based businesses in rural areas” , respectively.
