Abstract

The main aim of the current study is to compare the RELIGIOSITY attitudes between two groups of Tehran University STUDENTs. Sample consisted of 386 male STUDENTs who were selected randomly, completed two subscales of Minnesota Multiphase Personality Inventory (AAS, Mac-R) and Religious Attitude Scale (Khodayarifared et al., 1385) According to the cut off of both quest - ionnaires all subjects were divided in two groups, those who are capable for substance abuse as group 1 and those who are not as group 2. The results indicated that group 2 obtained high score in Religious Attitude Scale than group 1. The findings also showed that group 2 has religious cognitive and religious beliefs more than group 1 that is capable for substance abuse. According to the findings of this study, it seems that RELIGIOSITY and high cognitive beliefs play important role in prevention of substance abuse.
