ETHNICAL CONVERGENCE, CONCENTRA􀆟NG ON ETHNICAL GROUPS OF TURKS AND KURDS IN MAKOU

Abstract

 Majority of the countries in the world are comprised of numerous ethnical groups. The variety, in many countries in the world, has been the source of violence and has led to the outbreak of wars and domestic struggles wherein millions of people lost their lives. Iran is not an exception to the rule. IRANIAN ETHNICAL GROUPS are basically located in the border regions. Makou, which is located in the northwest of Iran, settles both ethnical groups-Azari TURKS, and KURDS- is adjacent to Turkey and Azerbaijan Republic. Like other countries, ethnical violence and struggle, sometimes originated security crises the regions where ethnical groups live; meanwhile influenced the capital. Chief among them are crises of Mahabad and Azarbaijan Democrat sect during 1945-1946, and crisis in regions where ethnical groups live, especially post revolution period and Azarbaijan crisis in 2006 and its consequences.The present research aims at identifying and examining the approaches to improve the level of convergence of IRANIAN ETHNICAL GROUPS to establish social unity to achieve sustainable security. The research is a case study which concentrated on ethnics living in Makou. The research method is of survey type. N=382 including Turk and Kurd population selected randomly and categorically through using Kerjsey & Morgan table (1970). A self-made questionnaire with a Lickert range was used for collecting data. The questionnaire reliability is measured through studying resources, conducting initial test, face-to-face interview with experts. Its validity is calculated through using Chronbach Alpha coefficient for all the questionnaires (a=0.862). In order to analyze data, frequency, percentage, average, standard deviation, graph, T test and variance analysis were used. With respect to proving all the hypotheses and general results of the research, it came out thatfive various factorsreligious, cultural, economic, social and political-have had a significant impact on improving the ethnical convergence level. Therefore, based on this, proposed research related and applied recommendations which increased convergence level.
