Abstract

 With the occurrence of the industrial revolution, negative environmental consequences occurred in the world, which were caused by the lack of proper attention to economic development and its impact on the natural environment. Construction activities consume a significant part of the world's energy, mineral resources, water, and other resources, as well as a significant percentage of carbon dioxide emissions, solid waste production, and water pollution in the world. In the meantime, architects were looking for new design and construction solutions based on the principles of environmental sustainability and energy conservation. International standards in different countries have been developed based on these principles, including the LEED standard, which means energy and environmental design guide and BREEAM, the building Environmental Quality assessment standard. The aim of the research is to explain the indicators of school improvement with an emphasis on Environmental Quality assessment standards in secondary schools of the desert provinces of Iran. The method of descriptive-analytical research is that the information is collected by field method and using interviews with experts. The results and findings show that the coefficient of impact of waste, materials and resources, pollution, management, transportation and water efficiency are positive and significant as indicators of school improvement. Also, based on exploratory factor analysis, it was determined that BREEAM and LEED indicators are suitable and desirable for evaluating school improvement.
