Abstract

Quran's verses about MARY have widely being reported in Islamic mystical literature; and they have been interpreted in various points of view by a number of prominent Muslim mystics. Compassion to people, for Muslim mystics, is one of the prominent characteristics of saints. As a saint, MARY wishes death from God, not because of being blamed by people, but for compassion to people who slandered her and accused her of committing adultery. She struggles against carnal desires and practices patience; hence she can perform miracles. According to Muslim mystics, she dwelled in paradise by choosing the VOLUNTARY DEATH. Her MODESTY and refraining from all of the other things saving God makes Jesus, a resident of heaven. The present article tries to show MARY’s abodes, portrayed in the MYSTICAL TEXTS of the 4th till 9th Centuries A.H.
