Title

Assessing the strategic human resource management from the perspective of faculty members and staff at the school of Nursing and Midwifery of Tehran: A Descriptive Analytical Study

Abstract

 Introduction: Today, paying attention to human factors is very important in order to fulfill organizational goals. Strategic management of human resources is known as a factor for increasing advantage and productivity. In this framework, Tehran School of Nursing and Midwifery, as one of the leading institutions in the field of nursing and midwifery education, needs to asses and improve strategic human resource management to ensure the improvement of performance and education. The present study was conducted with the aim of determining the strategic human resources management of the School of Nursing and Midwifery of Tehran University of Medical Sciences from the perspective of academic and teaching faculty members and staff. Method: This research is a cross-sectional descriptive analytical study. The research community is all members of the faculty, teaching staff and non-faculty staff of different units of the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery of Tehran University of Medical Sciences. The sample size was calculated using Morgan's table of 80 people. Employees who met the inclusion criteria were included in the study using the available method. The data collection tool in this research included demographic characteristics and the HRMPPS questionnaire. After obtaining approval from the ethics committee, the questionnaires were completed by the participants. The data were analyzed in Spss software version 26 using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. Result: Out of a total of 80 people in the research sample, 83.7% were female and 16.3% were male. Also, the average age of people was 44.08 ± 7.00 years. The results showed that in the present study, the demographic variables, except the income level, had no effect on the average scores of strategic human resource management and all its dimensions (p < 0.05). Also, all the components had strategic human resources in a favorable and suitable condition, so that the average score of the total research samples was 153/675 out of the possible 200 points, which was equal to about 77% of the score. The components of "attachment and belonging", "training and development" and "working conditions" were in the first to third ranks of superiority and desirability.  conclusion: The results of this study showed the appropriate situation in the field of implementation of different dimensions of human resources management from the perspective of employees and academic and educational faculty members. However, in order to improve in the components with lower and challenging scores, paying attention to the perspective and perceptions of human resources can lead to improved performance and achieving organizational excellence and organizational goals. Therefore, it is necessary for managers of different levels to consider different dimensions in their strategic planning.
