Abstract

Background and Purpose: Motorcyclists are among the most vulnerable users of the transportation system, because the lack of protection for passengers and the complexity of maneuvering and low stability increase the risk and severity of motorcycle accidents. Examining the statistics of accident fatalities in cities of Iran also confirms this issue, and measures should be taken in order to train and evaluate these road users. One of the tools to improve the behavior of Motorcyclists is the use of driving simulators. In this paper, the aim is to rank the Behavioral parameters of Motorcyclists that can be train and evaluated with a driving simulator. Method: In this study, the most important Behavioral parameters were identified by reviewing the literature and general statistics of accidents and violations of Motorcyclists, and then ranking was done using the CODAS method. Findings: The analysis showed that accidents and violations are the most important criteria for rating the Behavioral parameters of Motorcyclists, and the trajectory and the performance of Motorcyclists when facing the traffic signal, and the behavior of Motorcyclists at intersections, roundabouts, etc. (turns, crossing the intersection, the right of way) are the most important Behavioral parameters of Motorcyclists in reducing traffic safety in Tehran. Conclusion: The results of this paper can be used for educational purposes and evaluation and design of computer-task based tests for these vulnerable users.
