Abstract

Introduction: It could be highlighted the recovery period is an integral part after exercise. Its resting metabolic rate is higher than resting levels. Understanding the dynamics of oxygen during recovery period helps the coaches, athletes and heart failure cases to design a suitable training program. Accordingly, this article was carried out to investigate the effects of maximal oxygen consumption on OXYGEN DYNAMICS OF RECOVERY PERIOD after MAXIMUM CONTINUOUS ACTIVITY in female basketball players.Materials and methods: The quasi-experimental study, 7 elite female basketball players (mean age ±SD; 21±1.5 years, Body mass index ±SD; 21.7±1.7 and VO2 max ±SD; 41.4±3.4 ml/kg/min) as targeted and available were recruited. The characteristics of Subjects including general features, health status, and their letters of satisfaction were collected through questionnaire designed by the researcher. The first test consisted of increasing test to determine maximal oxygen uptake and the second test including increasing Balk and Ware (1995) protocol was implemented. After 16 training sessions, the third session of sampling a Maximal continues exercise protocol implementation is quite similar to the second session was conducted. Gas Analyzer machine was used to analyze the data, it was used from Paired t-test in the level of a=0.05.Results: After MAXIMUM CONTINUOUS ACTIVITY, in half time oxygen recovery (P=0.005) and in half time of the recovery of oxygen pulse (P= 0.001), significant difference was observed. Conclusion: People who have higher VO2 peak, have faster dynamic of oxygen and shorter recovery time in half and return in their reset is faster.
