Abstract

The NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT process has not been more challenging than it is today. Turbulence in customers’ needs, pressure of global competition, fragmentation of markets into smaller segments, rapid and never-ending changes in technological aspects and flexible production, force the NPD teams to introduce new products to their markets as rapidly as possible, reduce production cost with the high level of quality and reliability. In this paper, first AGILITY concept and its four main dimensions are used in the stages of NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT process, then the critical success factors of agile NPD process in Iranian manufacturing companies are extracted by using the EXPLANATORY FACTOR ANALYSIS METHOD .Through 34 main items affect the AGILITY power of the NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT process, 6 most critical ones are extracted by studying the 264 NPD projects in Iranian companies. Identification and applying these factors can help the NPD mangers to increase their responsiveness power of new product and capture the competitive markets.
