Title

Quranic Foundations of the Scientific Authority of the Quran in Islamic Theology and Philosophy.

Pages

  38-67

Abstract

One of the critical issues regarding the scientific authority of the Quran—meaning its influence within a particular field of knowledge—is the examination of its foundational principles. The term "foundations of the scientific authority of the Quran" refers to the teachings and propositions in fields such as anthropology, epistemology, and Quranic studies that support and validate the Quran’s scientific authority. Denying these foundations leads to the rejection of the Quran’s scientific authority, rendering it invalid. This paper, using a descriptive-analytical approach, explores the Quranic foundations underlying the scientific authority of the Quran in Islamic theology and philosophy, addressing the question: What beliefs about the Quran itself support its scientific authority in these domains? Based on the research findings, the Quranic foundations of its scientific authority fall into two categories: principles related to the existence and truth of the Quran—such as authenticity, truthfulness, life, immortality, universality, comprehensiveness, and shared domains—and principles related to the language and knowledge of the Quran—such as interpretability, knowledge conveyance, representation of reality, and the validity and credibility of the Quran's intellectual and philosophical knowledge.
