Title

Construction and validity of the dimensions of development of conselors questionnaire

Abstract

 The purpose of this study was to construct and validate of DDCQ: the Dim ensions of Development of Counselors Questionnaire. This study was included in applied research because of its purpose, it was a developmental approach in terms of method, and a descriptive – survey in terms of how to collect the information. Statistical population was the counselors and psychologists who were Active in the area of consultation in Shiraz in 2016. Sampling was done by cluster-random sampling technique. Overall, 305 counselors have participated in this study. In order to the statistical analysis of this study, Cattell’ s scree plot, Pearson correlation coefficient, Bartlett's test of sphericity Olkin (KMO), factor analysis with Varimax rotation, multivariable analysis of variance (MANOVA), Cronbach's alpha coefficient, split – half and test retest methods were used. The content Validity of the test was appropriately evaluated by 20 experts in psychology and counseling. As a result of factor analysis using Varimax method based on Scree test has shown that there were four factors (knowledge and dynamics, features and values, awareness of ethical principles and standards, professional and cultural attitudes) in the Dimensions of Development of Counselors Questionnaire. In total, 38/40 % of the total variance explained, and also the correlations for convergent Validity of the questionnaire with a total score were 0/59, and Average divergent Validity coefficients’ factors with each other were calculated 0/28. Criterion Validity reflects the correlation between the total score of self-designed questionnaire (DDCQ) with Woo ‘ s professional identity questionnaire (2013) is at a high level and meaningful (r=0/88). Discriminant Validity of this scale for both experienced and inexperienced group of consolers has shown the significant differences between the two groups. Cronbach's alpha coefficient for total score was 0/91 and in order for subscales were 0/94, 0/83, 0/71 and 0/61. The split method (split-half) for the whole test was 0/92, and in order for subscales were calculated 0/90, 0/80, 0/54 and 0/43. Retest coefficients, with an interval of two weeks, was 0/98. Recording the results obtained, it can be said that the Dimensions of Development of Counselors Questionnaire is a valid instrument, with high Reliability, can be used to assess the professional development of counselors.
