Abstract

A useful method for accurate assessment of the status of National Identity is the extraction of the elements, components and indicators of identity from past literary works. This can enhance the functions of National Identity and create national cohesion and unity in society. In this regard, the present study was a sociological review of the evolution of the components of National Identity in literary works. For this purpose, the story of "School Principal" written by Jalal Al-Ahmad was investigated using qualitative content analysis. The results of this research show that in this literary work the components of National Identity including national behavior, culture, geography and language have been well addressed in different ways.
