Abstract

Butachlor is used for the control of weeds particularly in paddy fields. It is a selective herbicide that acts on soil and controls the growth of roots and also prevents emergence of weeds. Morphological assessment of sexually matureRutilus frisii kutum Kamenskii 1901 caught from the rivers flowing in the southwest CASPIAN SEA region was conducted and HEMATOLOGICAL PARAMERTERS (RBC, Hb, Hct, MCV, MCH, MCHC) were determined after exposing the spawners to 60% herbicide BUTACHLOR (machete). Spawners under study were maintained in tanks (1000 l) at the Shahid Ansari Teleost Fish Hatchery and exposed to two different concentrations (25% and 75% of its LC50 value) of BUTACHLOR. Results obtained indicate that exposure to high BUTACHLOR toxicity (75% of its LC50 value) decreased RBCfrom 1.5×106 mm to 850000 mm, Hb from 18.64 to 12.76 gr/dlit, Hct from 51.23 to 33.96 %, MCHC from 37.48 to 33.49 pg and inceased MCV from 233.46 to 820.79, MCH from 88.59 to 292.49%.
