Abstract

This article is drawn from extensive research in Western Azarbaijan about social-cultural issues affecting on women inheritance which has been conducted in 2009. In this regard, a set of variables such as GENDER SOCIALIZATION, self-perception of women, the cultural context of family, place of residence, women`s awareness about the rules and... are considered.Quantitative method and standard questionnaire is used in this survey. A cluster sampling and Cochran's formula is used to determine the sample size which is 377.The result shows that high percentage of women believe patriarchal culture and GENDER SOCIALIZATION in the society are the major factors in women's lake of access to their inheritance rights.In this respect, a cultural teaching has suggested as a mechanism to deal with this issue by the studied women. In addition the domination of patriarchal culture, the men`s covetousness, and the laws which support men rights much more than women's inheritance right respectively are the main reasons of men`s refusing to give women`s inheritance rights.
