META-ANALYSIS POVERTY IN IRANIAN SOCIAL SCIENCES RESEARCH

Abstract

 The hypothesis of this article is whether the current social sciences researches in Iran are subject to meta-analysis or not. In fact I question the possibility of meta-analysis within these studies.In order to verify the mentioned hypothesis on the basis of the literature reviewed, I have criticized some of the meta-analysis in Iran. These reports are representatives of two main quantitative and qualitative approaches. The results of this study show that qualitative meta-analyses are mere categorizing the components of studies.In quantitative meta-analyses due to the negligible accumulation of studies, few assumptions are subject to merge, while no attention has been paid to the variance between the effect-sizes of their hypotheses and MODERATOR VARIABLES.The result is that at the current era, meta-analysis of social sciences studies and research in Iran is not possible and every effort in this area will be fail.In fact, meta-analysis was born and developed as a response to a METHODOLOGICAL CRISIS that was reached to its peak in the 80’s. Yet, the necessary platform for its birth was also created.This platform was nothing but enough accumulation of studies with contradicted and inconsistent results. This phenomenon has not happened in Iran so far. That's why the meta-analysis in this discipline is more seemingly an escape-analysis (in Farsi translation is farar-tahlil instead of fara-tahlil). This quasi-analysis is an unsuccessful forward escape from real analysis.
