Abstract

According to investigations, the processes of ADDICTION is influenced by mother’s behavior. This research aims to explain the effects of mother’s VIOLENCE on the tendency of their children toward ADDICTION among people referred to ADDICTION treatment centers in Tehran city and in comparison with normal group.The method of this study was a quasi-experimental design in which one hundred persons who addicted to drugs and referred to this center were compared with a hundred ordinary people. According to simple random sampling, some participants selected and demographic variable was matched with each other. Data was collected through background information questionnaires and their related tests. Testing hypotheses was analyzed according to t-statistics and descriptive statistics.The major findings show that mother’s VIOLENCE affected children’s tendency toward ADDICTION with a level of confidence 0.014 % and there is a significant relationship between the mean of mothers’ VIOLENCE in the addicted group and the normal ones.The results indicate that mother’s VIOLENCE can be considered as a vulnerable factor that can increase children’s tendency toward ADDICTION. Therefore therapeutic education for families, especially mother’s, can be effective in this case.
