Abstract

Introduction: Multiple Sclerosis is a common autoimmune disease that causes physical and psychological problems due to damage to the myelin of the central nervous system. Aim: The present study was aimed to investigate the effectiveness of Adlerian Therapy based on life style on Self-Compassion and Feelings of Inferiority in women with Multiple Sclerosis. Method: The present study was a semi-experimental project with a pre-post test design with a control group. The statistical population included all women with MS at the Mazandaran MS Association Center in 1403. 30 women were selected non-randomly and were randomly divided into two groups of 15 each, experimental and control. The experimental group received 8 sessions of Adlerian Therapy based on life style, but the control group did not receive any intervention. The long-form Self-Compassion questionnaire (Neff, 2003) and the standard scale of Feelings of Inferiority (Yao et al, 1997) were used to collect data. Multivariate analysis of covariance was used in SPSS-25 statistical software to analyze the data. Results: There was a significant difference between the experimental and control groups, Adlerian Therapy based on life style significantly increased Self-Compassion and decreased Feelings of Inferiority in the experimental group (P<0. 001). Conclusion: The results showed that this treatment improves Self-Compassion and Feelings of Inferiority in women with MS, so it is recommended that counselors and psychotherapists use this treatment to improve Self-Compassion and Feelings of Inferiority in people with Multiple Sclerosis.
