Abstract

This study aims to investigate the REPETITION and ASSOCIATION in the criticisms of Hafez, Saadi, Obeid Zakani, Ibn Yamin and Majdoddin Hamgar. The paper uses an analytical descriptive method. REPETITION and ASSOCIATION are linguistic capacities that increase the frequency of the words in particular domains. REPETITION can be verbal and also occur in the content. In SOCIAL CRITICISM, most REPETITIONs are related to common wickedness and misconducts in the society. The result of this study, which has been derived from the examination of the most frequent words in the criticisms of these five IRAQI STYLE POETS, shows that the words related to religiousness, especially in the critiques of Hafez and Obeid Zakani, are the most frequent. Also, referring to poverty and economic problems is abundant in Obeid Zakani's poems. The social and moral abnormalities and the dominance of immoral people are the most important issues of great concern for Hamgar. The fact that powerful people tend to ignore the poor and weak people of the society is the main concern of Saadi and the greed and avarice of stingy mean people, as well as the knowledgeable’s suffering from deprivation of artists are the most frequent subject in the critiques of Ibn Yamin.
