Abstract

Intensive competition among universities and institutes of higher education in providing quality services has given rise to an increasing need for a comprehensive approach to take into account all operational aspects of success to evaluate it accordingly. This study aimed to provide a system of strategic indicators based on a model of BALANCED SCORE CARDs in order to evaluate the performance of ISLAMIC AZAD UNIVERSITY's strategic plan. It consisted of three stages; first, information source involving three steps (Islamic Azad University's strategic plan, research literature, and, survey of the experts and key process owners with their own research methods and instruments), second, determining evaluation perspectives (including financial, learning and growth, internal process, and customer perspectives), third, involving identifying key indicators of the perspectives. Then, the most important indicators were extracted to be monitored and evaluated continuously by the vice president or the related departments. It should be mentioned that this study reports partially a larger research project.
