Abstract

This study aimed to compare the perceptions of principles’ and TEACHERS’ about teacher JOB MOTIVATION factors. This study was a descriptive survey. The population of this descriptive survey included all high school TEACHERS and PRINCIPALS of Lamerd and Mohr city (82 PRINCIPALS and 265 TEACHERS) in the school year 90-91. A sample of 68 PRINCIPALS and 152 TEACHERS was drawn based on Cochran formula using random cluster Sampling. In order to collect data a researcher-made questionnaire involving 12 items concerned with existence needs, membership, and growth was developed drawing upon Alderfer’s theory. The face and content validity of the instrument was approved by a panel of experts. Its Cronbach’s alpha reliability coefficient for PRINCIPALS and TEACHERS were 0.83 and 0.79 respectively. Descriptive and inferential statistics and ANOY A were used to analyze data. The results indicated that whereas there was no significant difference between the perception of PRINCIPALS and TEACHERS towards existence needs in relation to gender and education, there was a significant difference as regards membership and growth needs.
