Abstract

The present study evaluated and compared the relationship between MARITAL SATISFACTION and PERSONALITY TRAITS among employed women. More specifically, the relationship between irritability, extroversion, openness, agreeability, conscienceless and MARITAL SATISFACTION was explored. 200 hundred employed women were selected using stage cluster sampling from among all women in Kazeroon. Two data collection instruments were used: Anrych MARITAL SATISFACTION questionnaire with 47 items and Neo personality questionnaire which contained 60 items. Regression analysis, correlation and ANOVA were used to analyze the data. The following correlation coefficients were found between MARITAL SATISFACTION and each of the PERSONALITY TRAITS: irritability (-0.22), extroversion (-0.09), openness (0.18), agreeability (0.11) and conscientiousness. Among the obtained correlations, the correlations between irritability and MARITAL SATISFACTION and that of openness and MARITAL SATISFACTION were statistically significant. The former was a negative and the latter was a positive correlation. Other components, though showing some relations, were not meaningfully correlated. The overall picture shows that PERSONALITY TRAITS have the potential of predicting MARITAL SATISFACTION.
