Abstract

Personality characteristics and RELIGIOSITY are among the factors influencing the life quality of spouses. MARITAL SATISFACTION as a prominent manifestation of the life quality of the spouses is considerably under the influence of these factors. Therefore, the current study carried out with the aim of the prediction of the WOMEN's MARITAL SATISFACTION of Tabriz city by their PERSONALITY CHARACTERISTICS and RELIGIOSITY. The method of the study was descriptive and correlation. The statistical population of the present study consisted of all married WOMEN in Tabriz in 2012 that among them 200 subjects selected using Cochran's formula and convenient sampling method. To gather data the short form of the Neo Personality Inventory, Aryan's RELIGIOSITY and Enrich's MARITAL SATISFACTION used. Data analyzed by using the Pearson's correlation coefficient and analysis of regression. Finding showed that MARITAL SATISFACTION has a negative and significant correlation with neuroticism and have a positive and significant correlation with PERSONALITY CHARACTERISTICS of extroversion, openness, agreeableness, and conscientiousness. Furthermore, there was a positive and significant correlation between MARITAL SATISFACTION and RELIGIOSITY (0.01). Also the the results of regression analysis showed that RELIGIOSITY, neuroticism, openness, conscientiousness and extraversion respectively with the coefficient of determination of 44%, 13%, 15%, 18% and 19% are able to predict the MARITAL SATISFACTION. Thus, the knowledge followed by this study can used in sessions of counseling, treatment, and improvement of spouses' relationship to increase their MARITAL SATISFACTION.
