Abstract

Since Science is a social phenomenon, active groups of actors in a scientific field are called Scientific Community. The relationship between Scientific Capital and Scientific Community constructs the subject matter of current paper which is addressed through Pierre Bourdieu’ s field theory and his theory of Habitus. Scientific Community of sociology in various universities of Tehran were selected as the research population and 163 professors were interviewed in this study. Results show that sociology as a Scientific Community enjoys acceptable rates of social and Cultural Capitals and there is a positive significant correlation between the two of them and Scientific Capital.
