PERSONALITY AND ORGANIZATIONAL VARIABLES AS PREDICTORS AND CONSEQUENCES OF AUTHENTIC LEADERSHIP IN EMPLOYEES

Abstract

 This study was designing and testing a model of some antecedents and outcomes of authentic lead-ership. In this model personality traits (conscientiousness, agreeableness and neuroticism), ethical context and leader-member exchange were considered as precedents of AUTHENTIC LEADERSHIP and affective commitment, organizational virtuousness and psychological capital were considered as outcomes of AUTHENTIC LEADERSHIP. The participants of the study were 209 employees (male 192&female 17) of Bidboland gas refinery that were selected by random sampling method. The instru-ments which used in this study were personality traits (NEO-FFI), Ethica Context, Leader-Member Exchange, AUTHENTIC LEADERSHIP, Affective Commitment, Organizational Vrrtuousness and Psychological Capital scales were used. Fitness of the proposed model was examined through structural equation modeling (SEM), using SPSS-19 and AMOS-19 software packages. The indirect effects were tested using the Bootstrap procedure. Findings indicated that the proposed model partly fit the data. Better fit and more meaningful results obtained by omitting 2 nonsiginificant paths and using AMOS modification indices. All indirect effects were significant.
