Abstract

The purpose of the present research was to investigate the effect of MUSIC THERAPY (active, non-active) on POSITIVE SYMPTOMS of SCHIZOPHRENIA patients at shafa centre of dezful. Seventy- five (75) patients with SCHIZOPHRENIA were selected in this study in three groups which were devided into two experimental groups and one group as control group. The first experimental group (1) took part in active MUSIC THERAPY sessions consisting of singing, playing music and harmonic physical movements. The second experimental group (2) attended non-active MUSIC THERAPY, consisting of listening to their own ideal music. The controlling group were not exposed to any kind of music at all, The expermintal groups were studied five days a week for one month and each session took about one hour, All the patients in the experiment mere measured and evalnated both before experiment and after experiment related to the symptoms of disease both positively and negatively and thus positively and negatively symptoms of (PNS-Q) were measured carefully, Statistical analyses through variance analysis of monva variable revealed that both active MUSIC THERAPY and non-active MUSIC THERAPY cause the reduction of POSITIVE SYMPTOMS (P=0.0001, F=29.14) among patients with SCHIZOPHRENIA at Shafa centre of Dezful. Consequently, the hypotheses in the research were confimed and approved scientifically.
